Key Characters:

Growth Form: Clumping or upright (erect), sprawling, prostrate. or decumbent shrub, 0.15–0.4 m tall.

Stems:

Roots: Roots a tap root.

Leaves: Leaves simple. Alternate. Blades elliptic or ovate Apex acute or rounded. Margins bipinnately lobed, deeply lobed or dissected, pinnatifid.

Flowers:

Fruit: Fruit a simple; dry; achene (cypsela); brown; pale brown; tan; or straw-colored; obconical (top-shaped attachment at the narrow end); ribbed/nerved; viscid/sticky/gummy.
